Day 6 of the 365 Project: Nestled In The Leaves
Why I Took This Photo of the Mushrooms Nestled in the Leaves
When I found these mushrooms (only two of many) they were almost completely buried in the grass and leaves. Only their light brown fuzzy tops were showing above the fallen leaves.
Full disclosure, there was some gardening done to get this photo. The leaves in front were moved and the grass was matted down so I could get a shot of the stems. Also, the mushroom on the right was picked and laid down so the gills show.
That’s ok because the spores were spread when the mushroom was moved. Mushrooms rely on external forces to spread their spores.
The image isn’t perfect, but still good enough to show how beautiful it is.
As mentioned in the previous 365 Project posts, these mushrooms are rare this time of the year as we have yet to have a hard frost or snow. I’ve never seen a November like this before. So mild and a lot of sun in this part of the country. Usually, we are cloudy 90% of the time from November to March.
So I took advantage of this rare occurrence and will save other images for when normal Central New York weather returns!
I hope you enjoy the image and all of the 365 Project.
