Day 18 of the 365 Project: Persistent Oak Leaves on a Rainy Day
Why Did I Take This Photo of the Persistent Oak Leaves on the Shore of Beaver Lake
Today, it was a cold rainy day in the lowlands with snow at higher elevations. We went from dry conditions to the ground being saturated overnight. So instead of taking the dog for a run and getting him all muddy, we rode to Beaver Lake Nature Center. It at least gets him out of the house and I think as much as he likes to run, riding is his real jam.
So what does that have to do with the image? The point of going to Beaver Lake (lol, it is called Mud Lake on the maps) was to go to the bog and boardwalks and find some berries, seed pods, blueberry leaves, or something where I could shoot raindrops dripping off.
I did find those, but when I saw the Red Oak Leaves against the foggy far shore and light blue water with the raindrops marring the surface I thought it a better shot. I’ll save raindrops for another day!
I rarely see this body of water in such a light blue color. It is usually black or dark blue, it could be a reflection of the clouds I suppose. Behind me, the sun was trying to break through and ahead of me. you can see the dark rain clouds to the northwest.
The image is far from great, but it fits the day’s mood. The point of the 365 project is for me to get out and shoot and edit an image every day that catches my eye. This scene did that, however, it should also force me to shoot subjects or themes that I do not normally record. Here I suppose I failed.
As an excuse, I can say it was getting dark, the dog was in the car and I didn’t have hours to search for an image (like tomorrow too!). Still, I like the scene although the composition and editing were rushed.
Something to work on there.
Day 18 in the books!
Two routes and another route I need to help with tomorrow, it will be a challenge to find an outside image.
