Day 10 of the 365 Project: Wild White Clematis
Why Did I Take an Image of this Wild White Clematis?
On today’s quick walk along the Erie Canal Trail near the Sims General Store between Warners and Camillus I came across this fluffy white clump of seeds of what I now know are White Clematis. Apparently, they are wild and not invasive.
Usually, the pappus which is the parachute-like structure of hairs attached to the seed by a thin stalk are much more open and airy like the ones below.
I thought it looked like a cotton ball or wet wool. I also liked the contrast and color tones of the clump. As daylight was quickly fading I decided I’d take a photo of the white clematis pappas for todays photo.
