Day 15 of the 365 Project: Sunset at Onondaga Lake
Why I Chose to Take a Sunset Photo at Onondaga Lake Today?
Truth be told I was meeting someone in Liverpool at 5:30 pm so with the sun setting so early I figured I could take my 365 Project photo in the park and then go to my meeting afterward.
I think it worked out nicely.
There have been better sunsets there for sure, and I thought it likely the sun would peak out under the cloud bank but it never happened. I guess there were low thick clouds further to the west blocking the sun and only producing the orange streak on the horizon.
The blues were very rich during all of the golden hour. The image above was taken at 4:30 and sundown was at 4:37.
I chose this image out of the many I took because of the ducks in the orange reflection in the lake and the seagull swimming more toward the center of the image also in the orange reflection.
The large massive tree roots eroded out of the shoreline make a good foreground element and the tree mostly frames the image.
If the sun appeared and lit up the bottom of the clouds it would have been awesome, but overall I like the image mainly because of the nice blue tones and the orange accent color divided by the far shoreline.
Day 15 is in the books!
