Day 24 of the 365 Project: Snowfall in the Pleasant Valley Marsh
First Snowfall at Pleasant Valley Nature Preserve Marsh – Why Did I Take This Photo?
Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you are enjoying the day with family and loved ones!
Marshes, swamps, or wetlands are great places to visit. There is so much life to be seen or at the least evidence of life.
But the main reason I took the photo is how the snowfall made the hills in the background look like layers. The first knoll is darker while the snowfall behind it lightens the color followed by the next ridge, darker than the valley but not as dark as the closer knoll and this pattern is repeated to the final taller hill in the back that is barely visible because of the snowfall.
Another reason is I like the color contrast between the Red Twig Dogwoods and the reflection of the blue-gray sky in the calm waters of the marsh. The streaks of snowflakes add to the atmosphere too!
I feel the image captures how I saw the scene when I took the photo. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea I’m sure, it’s more of a personal experience type of photo.
Day 24 of 365 is in the books!
